The Tuner Gang - Humanized!

Description

So if you don't already know, I'm a huge fan of all things Pixar Cars, and I also love to humanize them a whole lot. Mostly because I can't draw vehicles very well (though I have tried) and because it's really fun :) So what you're seeing here is an older sketch I did outside of Create back in 2012 for my PixarPlanet art thread, which is why the shading and anatomical structure leaves a fair amount to be desired. But it's so fun and colorful I couldn't resist posting it here, at least after fixing it up some (and adding the epic background and cool lettering!). I ended up drawing this on a whim after receiving a Tuners-heavy issue of Cars magazine (yes, one did exist up until recently). And with help from my Meet The Cars book, I was able to make the hippest, coolest delinquent road hazards you've ever seen! Headbang!

Wingo was tricky to do, mainly because I had to add the shades and then do this crazy design on his shirt. I kinda wonder what those characters mean or stand for. My favorite part of his design is his cray hair.
Boost was probably my favorite design of the four. His hair was one of the most extreme styles I'd attempted at that time, and I still love it! His shirt, by the way, says "How's My Driving? Ha Ha!", like the bumper sticker on the Pizza Planet Truck; I thought it would be a nice touch :D
DJ was one of my earlier attempts at doing a character with a more husky build, which frankly I still can't do that well. But I love his shirt design so so much!
Snotrod, being the only muscle car in a gang of imports, had to look drastically different. And while it wasn't intentional, his curly coppertop isn't too unlike another Pixar character voiced by the same guy... :)

So ultimately, I think they turned out nicely, despite being a majorly old-school project. And trust me, this is far from the last human Cars piece you'll be seeing...

Wingo, Boost, DJ, and Snotrod belong to Disney/Pixar, but this drawing and my humanization designs belong to me.
