Older Rako Sketch (The Yoda Chronicles)

Ahhhh finally I got this done!! And it was well worth the time spent! So yeah, here's the final of Yoda's padawans aged up from Lego's The Yoda Chronicles, Rako! This guy posed some difficulties but ultimately was a lot of fun to draw. Thankfully, starwars.com had more visual reference for Kit Fisto than Shaak Ti did when I used her for reference for Vaash Ti. I think the trickiest part on doing him was the eyes... with all the footage there, both CG and live-action, it was hard to figure what his eyes actually look like, so I ended up just layering browns around the pupils. I hoooope that's close enough to the actual thing... since this is the first time I've drawn a Nautolan, I wanted to do them justice as best I could! The pose came out really well this time around, too. I used photo reference as well as some tips and tricks from Tom Bancroft's Character Mentor book to get an interesting, dynamic action pose. Though I have absolutely no idea why I ended up drawing his hand like that... it was really hard trying to make it look completely natural and I was having some difficulty as to how much I should sharpen the tips of his fingers or not and well... meh happened there. Some day I'll totally figure out hands XP And if the lightsaber looks small it's because this time in my photo reference I used a flashlight to stand in as a lightsaber handle. I tried to make it longer but well... you can see how that came out! Haha. Anyway, this awesome, confident young Jedi came out really nicely in the end. Nowwww I really kinda want to go and write fanfics on the foursome! I keep hoping that maybe the padawans will show up as adults in the next special, which would certainly help... guess we'll just wait and see!
